Trading Some Fuel Economy Improvement Ideas

2008 LT 220,000, 16.9mpg ,87 oct -country roads
Same here 07 ltz I basically drive 27 miles to work 24 miles country roads and 3 miles city to work and I get the same 16.8 to 17 mpg. But I have about 14 stop and go so it's not a consistent drive 245k on motor

I would start by using a scanner to monitor your short and long term fuel trims to make sure the engine is performing properly.

Ideally, your truck's engine should attempt to maintain close to zero on both trims as the engine goes through it's normal rich and lean cycles during acceleration and deacceleration.

Variances are normal as the engine runs through it's normal RPMs, but the desired results will always be aimed toward zero.

If the numbers are always way off, then you either have a too rich or too lean condition and you should work to determine the cause.

If the trims are normal, then the normal driving conditions and style of driving would be the next place I would look.

Also, don't carry around any unnecessary weight.

I'm new but how many miles are you getting per tank full as I have discovered that mileage I'd relative to vehicle weight (the heavier the vehicle the bigger the tank ( most vehicles average 350 miles-400 Mile's per tank) my o5 Avalanche will go the same distance ( per tank)as a harly gold wing

22mpg average? No possible way.
New tune up and I got 19.1 on two highway trips over ~600 miles. And proud of it. Hitting ~14.x in city. No extra weight. Mechanically perfect. Like some one said above, must be confusing km with miles.
22? It must mean when it's hauled on a trailer ,mine will be GOOD TO GET 26-28
