Posting about GTG's

We have said that it is OK to post a link to the GTG in any state where you wish for it to be seen. Just ask that it be locked and used to point members back to the original thread. This makes it much easier to keep track of the discussion for the GTG because all of the discussion is in one place.  I know that I have read through page after page about a GTG only to find out it was not even in the state where I was reading the information. This is new but not hard to figure out and in the end it will make the GTG information much easier to track.

If members in the state where you make that post decide that they need to discuss details about travel plans, what to bring, mods to do etc. they can start a thread in their state and name it appropriately, this just makes information easier to find, it in no way makes it look like you are "snubbing" other states or trying to eliminate some states from attending...........I think my choice of the word "clutter" was a poor choice of words, can I take it back?   :help:

Again, I am just posting this for our information, this is not something that I just made up for Region III it will apply to all of CAFCNA.

I sent a PM to an Admin asking if it was ok for me to leave a post about the Holiday Dinner with link back to the actual thread in Michigan and it was moved and two other threads in other states deleted.  Not one time did said Admin tell me that it was ok to leave the threads there as long as it was locked.
I have never had a problem keeping up with GTG's that I have attended or hosted that had multiple threads in other surrounding states.

What happened??  This "Fan CLUB" is becoming more and more like dealing with an employer.  "It is my way or the Highway"!!

When did this happen?

I'm hearing more complaint's along these lines than any complaint about GTG threads in too many states.

I updated the first post with the correct information when posting about GTG's in other states. It was not explained very well to me in the beginning and I should have waited until I understood it better before I made that first post. I apologize for the confusion and I think this new updated explanation should make it easier to understand........

Butch I still do not like this idea you can sugarcoat it. I think it's a bad move.

Can someone PM me why this was made.

You can post in any state that you wish, read it again.

Not if it's pinned (n)

We should be allowed to post in states connecting to our state.

Maybe I'm just dumb. Also ygmn is a good person just he saw something that was not good

Are you sure it was not DougD

If you are hosting a GTG in Michigan, you can make a post in Ohio and Indiana or any neighboring states with a link back to the thread in Michigan you just have to get a Global Mod or Admin or National Coordinator to Lock and Sticky it then when the GTG is over ask one of them to remove the post in the Neighboring state.

wow...and that sounds sooooo much easier than people leaving it alone!!! Really???

As I said before, no do not post in 12 states when you know darn well 1/2 of those states aren't even active and the other 1/2 won't come. But states that have members near the GTG or have been known to attend in the past, hell yes, it should be posted. And if you can't figure out what state the GTG is in well....not my problem (no offense Butch).

And as the GTG owner, if you do post in said 12 states, then it is YOUR responsibility to keep up with what YOU STARTED. How is it too much work if you created it yourself?? If you can't keep up with the threads YOU started, then don't start them. It's that simple.

So now because of some yahoo that pissed off the Mods, I have to do all this extra stuff to post a GTG in another state. Rather than it being discussed with the FEW people who didn't know how to do it "right".  Again, way to foster a MEMBER community. And since I personally do not plan many GTG myself, do you really think I am going to remember all these "RULES" when it comes time to do so? What will happen if I forget to ask someone to lock it or heaven forbid have it removed once it is over??

So now I am off to post a GTG, but sadly it will only be in Michigan....cuz I am not sure I can remember all this.

I understand not creating clutter, with lower Michigan I tried to invite Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Ontario Canada a month early and include links to the GTG thread. Later I would bump the thread up about a week early with a reminder. I also understand your frustration,...

We are a community for good, if you don't like the rules you have a limited number of choices.
It is possible to change the rules if you ask and give intelligent reasons.

The staff tolerates me, even listens at times since I tend to be a small thorn in thier side rather than a big prick. Was that an allegory ? maybe they tolerate me because I am amuse them ? what would a town be without a town fool ?

Any updates on the posting of GTG in other states, I see some that were not pinned or moved.

it seems like the mods for this region haven't been on for a while. i pm'd loggie to have mine pinned and locked but no response yet. i guess they all booked the weekend off!

No I think they are rethinking the decision. I think all will be well, you just can't post in several states. (y)

PS I hope.

Well never mind I see someone did it again in Michigan I think in Michigan we should be allowed to control our state area, I truily think pinning a post for another GTG in another state is a bad idea.

But I guess I'll stop hosting events, I'm done with this nonsense.

I'm not done yet this is a dumb azz idea please rethink this.
