Greetings, all, from our little island of Puerto Rico.

I'm not an owner, but a good friend of mine is. Have to say, your community is by far impressive. No matter where I've checked information to help my bud out, it's nothing but support and a good serving of pride when it comes to the beast of a pickup that is the Avalanche. He loves it, I'm impressed with it, and since he bought it, I've noticed a ton more on the road than I previously had.

Now, for the help. I tried doing a search here and on other sites. I'm no stranger to forums, but it's been a while. His HVAC system works, but it seems to be stuck on the top (window) vents and the bottom (leg) vents setting. The front-facing dash vents won't work and the knob makes no difference as to allowing the change.

So, I'm assuming his module is kaput. He currently has in his possession a new one, but after some research, I found out it was 599-218 when he apparently has the 599-215. Please don't flame me too hard, but is he boned or is there an adapter out there that helps convert the 32 pin to a 17 pin terminal since he doesn't really care about the auto functions? My guess is that it won't work, but I've come seeking wisdom since I know less than nothing about these vehicles.

TL/DR: Is there a harness adapter to convert the HVAC plug of the 599-215 to be used with a 599-218?

Thank you all for any help or insight anyone may provide.

The mode door actuator is what directs air to certain vent positions.

This actuator is located toward the upper center area of the dash and is accessed from the driver's side footwell.

Thank you for your reply. I'll tell him to give that a check as well.

@Infidel_Kat0 also try this. Set all the hvac controls to “off” & disconnect the battery for 20 minutes. Reconnect and see if that solved the problem. If it does, check that the alternator is working properly and that the battery tests “good”. The systems in the Av are sensitive to voltage fluctuations and an issue with the alt or battery can cause all kinds of different kinds of havoc.

Much obliged, Devil Dog. I'll be sure to suggest this as well.

What year and AC controls does he have?

Greetings, Captain. He has a 2002.

I confirmed when I checked online (trying to help him out) that he has the 599-215. It's the single plug, 32-pin with the option to put the fans and vents on Auto. The new module he obtained is 599-218, 2 plug version without the auto options. They're literally identical aside from the auto climate control.

Well that will be your problem in that you need the correct module to work with controls you have.

Have you confirmed actuators are not issue as they tend to be on ALL MAKES and MOdels.

LAst year I replaced some one a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

He will be working on that soon enough since I have to help translate the steps in the video provided by EXT4ME. Once he tries that out, I'll chime back in.
