Indiana Members Check in Here!

OK, another noob checkin in.

Over here on the West side.

My contribution for today is that the Meijer on 38th st has a bunch of 4157NALL's for 3.99 a pair. Couldn't find 'em a the 6 auto stores I checked previously.

Welcome to the club Spindle! I will add your name to the growing list of Indiana Members.

Spindle,

Good to meet another central Indiana Avy enthusiast. I guess I didn't think about the Community Day as a possible event. I had forgotten this was an opportunity to get on the track. I contacted IMS last year about hold a GTG with a lap around the track. They want $2000 to allow a group on the track. Kinda steep for a club with a free membership. I am open to any ideas for other events also.

Anyway, that's an interesting idea. It's too bad that Community Day is a Wednesday (May 26th) during the day when most folks work (12-6pm). I guess we can leave it open to discussion and see what others think.

I don't live on the westside but I do work on South Tibbs. I guess I could run up after work and we could arrange a parade of at least two cool trucks. I know there is a AVY in the area that was a 500 official truck with all the standard Indy 500 logos. I met the fellow in Greenfield last year.

Enjoy

Mox,
Is the $2K per club or per truck? ???
If its per truck, we could get 20 trucks to pay $100 each for a trip around the track. I know that's not cheap but for a something you could talk about for a long time, I would shell out the green backs...

It's $2K per event. And they need a million dollar liability insurance rider for the day. Actually that usually isn't too expensive. Our radio club floats one on the day we hold our annual Hamfest (in December). Also the weekends that are available are pretty limited each year due to the May race events, the Brickyard, Formula 1 and various testing sessions. They suggested a 6 month lead time.

BUT it would be awesome and a great photo op.

If you just want on the track, it looks like Community Day on May 26th is the winner ($5)... Limited to 30 mph

Nice avatar..

Agreed in fact I'm already here for the 4th of July Midnight Parade  (y)

You are here now? We just went to town and picked up some supper. I drove through the Hampton Inn lot looking for you! We tagged a red Avalanche from Alabama in the lot! If you want something to do tomorrow, the Anderson FREE FAIR is in town. Not sure what time it starts up each day. There is also a little fair in Applewood. There is a go kart track across the little side street from Applewood that is nice. Give me a call at 765-779-4133 or come on out anytime tomorrow. We are hoping the rain misses us!

Just checking in... representing Central Indiana (Greenfield)! I just purchased my '04 Silver Burch Z71 WBH. My wife and I went camping this weekend in TN and slept in the AVY! EXCELLENT!!!
I have added the stainless step bars and will be adding the fender flares and door trim later this week.
I have a BIG question... What's up with all the talk on the Amber DRL's? Sorry, I'm new and a little slow!
Thanks!

Welcome to the site scouch125!

Many members have swapped out the white bulbs in their DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) with Amber bulbs, and many of those have set them up to also be on when their other lights are on. We therefore wonder when we see another Avalanche with amber DRLs whether we know that person from this site. Of course others may see the amber DRLs and make the change without being a member here, but nevertheless, it is sort of exciting to spot another AV with them and wonder if it is someone with whom you have communicated with via this site.

In order to identify members as you see them on the road, a standard mod has been to change the white daytime running lights to amber (yellow). When you see an Avy with ambers running then you are probably looking at a member. Many go one better and change the DRL's to full time on, so they can be seen at night. It's a little more complicated than just changng the bulbs.

So when you see me around town you can spot me from the front by my full time amber Drl's and my American Flag Bowtie. (I don't have any other unusal aspects to my Avy , do I, Butch or others???)

Welcome again to the club.
