IN Cab air filter

I believe the tongue clinching method is to ensure you don't swallow the screw.

In the 04 CTS that I once had, the filter was accessed outside near the windshield above the firewall. My fingers were far to large to do the job without blooding on the filters.

I ended up changing 3 more that day since I was already damaged and numbed up. It just seemed easier than removing the hood and they all got the blood too.

Did you ever consider why the original screw was missing?  ???

Now I'm understanding why more 02 owners have not been posting any comments on this procedure.

The screw was missing because the last time the filters were changed that person did not take it personal like I did and just insist that the screw had to be back in there. There were times that I would be driving and if I got to just the right speed and just the right road there was a very slight vibe noise coming from under the center of the dash. I am convinced that the screw missing was causing this noise. I will find out soon. The old filters were definitely cruddy so I can see that it was not a favorite thing to be done by the previous owner. I also took the time to blow out the inner filter housing before reassembly. I think other 02 owners are just putting this off. I wouldn't.  :E: :E: :E: :E: :E:

There is a listing for them in Rock Auto so I would assume they have them on the '04. Someone on here will know for sure though.

Only 02s have them.

Stop crying... It's only a PIA for the mechanically challanged....  Sorry about the rant but if you're a gear head it's all part of it....

Challanged is spelled challenged.
