CO Cruise In Nov Or Dec?

November 23 is less than 3 weeks away and there haven't been many responses to this thread so perhaps November 23 is too close to now to get everything together. Would Dec 14 be the better time for the cruise because it's farther in advance?

Sorry if my posts on this thread are starting to seem useless. I'm just wanting to make sure that this thread stays on the first page of the cruise section so that the people in CO who haven't seen it don't miss it.

 
yah it is ok to go to the castle his son is running it i have never seen it in wintter but i am sure we can go (and the royal gorge is not to far away ;))
 
Folks - we have not had a great reply to this cruise.

I am going to set the date for this cruise on Dec 14th. Any closer in and it might have to be cancelled due to a lack of interest.

I am looking for a minimum of 8 AV's to confirm for the 14th.

The plan is to go to Bishop's Castle. CO_Bigblock - I need you to work your connections to confirm it will be open on the 14th.

I haven't had anyone from the Springs area volunteer to coordinate a local place to eat. This is too long of a road trip for me to go scouting.

So I need people to step up and confirm for the 14th, or I will be enjoying my other passion on the 14th at a ski resort :)
 
Come on everybody! We need feedback! Blueruck has done all that he can and if there is no interest, then there is no point in him working his tail off to get a cruise going. The first cruise was GREAT! If we want to have more cruises, I think this one might be crucial.

I will get a hold of co_bigblock. He and I go to the same school and most importantly, we're good friends. If I can, I'll talk to him tomorrow but he'll first have to talk to his parents first.

Blueruck, please don't lose hope-I'm trying not to. December 14 is a long time away (well, sorta ;D).

I can't make it on Dec. 14th. I'd be better with Nov. 23..
I'm not trying to throw cold water on this cruise (I think it's a great idea), but maybe trying this so close to the holidays is tough for most folks.
 
hey my dad says the castle is most likely open cuz it is open all year round but if anyone has any doubts u can visit some links people have posted well im up for it

Blueruck has specifically identified his concern for the distance of that drive. A big group of us can't go all the way down there all to discover that the castle is closed.

We MUST confirm that it will be open because there would be some pretty unhappy campers if it was closed ;).

co_bigblock, I'll talk to you some more about it. It HAS to be open for the cruise because it's a long way down there. I'm sure nobody wants to have any doubt whatsoever that it will be open :)
 
I've been quiet because I don't care when the date is. My weekends are free and if they aren't I'll make them free for a cruise. :B: You guys set the date, I'll be there. ColoradoJason
 
ithe site will probably tell u when the castle is open but im positive it is open year round so i dont see any reason y it should be closed bishop works on it every day because that is his life so he wouldnt be anywhere elsae and if he were his son would run it and also if anyone is still concerned the royal gorge isnt too far away
 
Thanks for the info. co_bigblock! What kind of admission costs are there to get in? I can't picture it being expensive- I'm just curious.

It looks like we have ColoradoJason on board so that is great news (y).

I hope I'm not wrongfully speaking for Blueruck but has anyone in the Springs done any scouting or is planing on doing any scouting for the cruise?
 
Sorry about being lax on responding to this next cruise. I had trouble logging onto the site. All is fine now and here I go. December 14 works fine for me and sounds like a bunch of fun. All of the ideas that have been given are also fine. I am new to Colorado so this is just another opportunity to see more of the beautiful state. I am in Colorado Springs so I can assist with a meeting place for lunch as was previously mentioned. I love the restaurant called Joe's Crab Shack. Has anyone heard of it or been to it? It has a great atmosphere and very good food. It is right off of I-25 at Academy Blvd. So it will be easy access for everyone.

Let me know if there is anything else that is needed and I can assist with since I'm in the Springs.

I'm in (ColoradoAV - thanks again for the reminder). I'll need to be back to Co/Sprgs by 4PM.

What time will the northern group arrive in Co/Sprgs? If it's too early and Joe's Crab Shack isn't open, we could probably meet at Al Serra Chevrolet just a few blocks away. The GM offered us a free meeting room and munchies way back when CAFCNA was just getting started.

Things definitely seem to be looking up now for the cruise. 7 out of 8 AVs from the last cruise have responded and sounded interested. It looks like there will be a good shot a meeting our minimum of 8 AVs (y).

For those who were on the last cruise, my dad and co_bigblock's dad went up to the cabin (in the blue 2500) and played around in the driveway in about 15" of snow >:D! I guess it sounded like a lot of fun. Just thought I'd bring back some memories of the last cruise ;).

I'm really excited we have picked the 14th, so I can go. I just bought and installed the Bullit Fuel Door on my Av. It looks great!!!! I Don't know if I'm in the count for the number of Av's going or not, but I'm trying to talk my dad into going. I'm still not sure if he is going to make it cause he does a lot of traveling like next week he is supposed to be in China or Japan and in December he is supposed to be in China or Japan also. Once I found out his schedule I'll let you know if he can join us. I'm sorry for all of those that can't make it. I was really hoping that we picked a date that everyone can go, but for something like that to happen it would be amazing, like lighting sticking the same spot twice. I look forward to meeting everyone. Talk to you later.

I guess I'll have to talk to co_bigblock again about the cruise. As far as I'm concerned, they will be going. It's hard to work around their athletic schedules but I think we have successfully done that. I think that if they couldn't go, his dad would have said something by now ;). Besides, they have the connection with Bishop's Castle so we need them to come.

Yep, we're a go unless something terribly wrong happens >:D.

OK.....First off, thanks to Blueruck for keeping the passion alive. I haven't been diligent with checking my emails, but I appreciate his efforts on keeping everyone informed about the ever growing Colo Av Chapter.
Count me in on the Dec 14 cruise ;D. Based on the postings, you guys ( & gals) have had a GREAT time and I would be stupid not to get involved. See you guys in December!!
 
This is great news that we are finally getting a high number of AVs and a great group of people together (y) Welcome to the club RedHotAvColo! You'll have a great time here.

Now to the not so great part: co_bigblock MIGHT not be able to go. He needs to ask his dad but wrestling practice may interfere :6:. I think he told me it ends at 11:00 which depending on how long the cruise goes, that might be a little too late. I hope he can confirm this.

This by no means should hurt us with Bishop's Castle. We just need some valid directions and confirmation that it will be open.

In the mean time for those of you who went on the last cruise, here is a little eye candy from last weekend at the cabin.

I just heard from my dad and he might be coming up from New Braunfels, TX over the week of 12/14. He also has an AV (like father like son??) and may be able to join us.
He's already been to Colorado once before and would move up here if he had the chance. Is this cruise open to out-of-staters??
For anyone who's interested, I've attached a copy of our AV's from his last trip. Two AV's in the family..... Am I in Heaven or what :love:??

Hey that's great (y). I know I'd love to have another AV on the cruise. The more the better!

The cruise is open to anyone. On the last cruise, we had out-of-state plates (even though they're living here now).

I'd love to have two AVs in the family. You are in heaven :).

Now that Dec 14 is becoming a reality, I'm counting the days too ;D.
 
I just feel it's time to move this thread back to the top if that's alright. You never know if there could be someone new interested in attending.

Just out of curiosity, since Bishop's Castle is so far away, what should we do in the event of inclement weather?
 
It looks like we have enough AV's for the cruise - I will start to work on the details this weekend.

If we end up having bad weather on the day of the cruise - ice or snow I will cancel the cruise. I would prefer to cancel instead of taking a chance of having 1 or 2 AV's in an accident.
