Cargo Light/Fog Light Switch Replacement CRAZY!!!

Hi! This is my first post so forgive me if I've failed to follow protocol in some way, or if it's already been covered elsewhere.

I need to replace the dashboard switch module with buttons for both the cargo light and fog lights. I have a 2002 1500. Searching for a replacement all I can find offered for sale are ones indicated for 2003 and later years. Is there any difference between this module in the 2002 models and the 2003 and later models? By this I mean is there a different switch module for 2002, or can I just obtain and install one indicated as being for 2003 and later models?

Yes you need 2002 as it had different computers.
You can verify by comparing part numbers for switch and they are different.

Thanks for your reply. I'm replacing it because the button became friable, presumably because of heat from the lighting element, and it caved in like an eggshell. If I could get into it I'd consider trying to fit a button from a new one, if they're the same dimensions, which would likely be cheaper. But I haven't pulled it out as yet.

Cheers! If anyone has any experience with selectively replacing just buttons, I'd love to hear about it.

You will need the whole module. The buttons are directly mounted to the PC board as part of the unit and not otherwise replaceable. You must have gotten some water in side it to melt it like that.

Perhaps. Previous owner didn't clean the drains in the bed. Moisture definitely got in the cab from there into the back seat area. And thanks for the reply!
