2007-2013 Takata Airbag recall approved.

Just looked it up on the Chevrolet Owners Center - It now shows there was a Recall issued May 27, 2016, with the results last updated Nov 30, 2020.

Recall Status: INCOMPLETE. REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE

Not for me yet, but I will be following. Thank you for the info.

GM Recall Information Website excerpt: Currently, there are no recalls or programs associated with your 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche

Should it list old recall information or only services that haven't been performed on this VIN? Surely there was 1 or more recalls on a 2010 before now, right?

Still showing Incomplete: Remedy not available. Really hoping they have to remove the entire dash to get to it so I can have that fixed at the same time.

Has anyone heard anything else?

Thanks. Last line notes
While owners will receive notice of the recall starting March 1, GM doesn't have the remedy complete yet. Expect another piece of mail at a later date instructing owners to bring their truck or SUV to a dealer where a technician will install a new front passenger airbag at no cost.
Curious to see how they are going to handle the removal of the dash :)

I have an appt for Wednesday of next week, and they said they had the part. I will update.

2013 Z-71

Got my letter yesterday for my 2009. The letter said that parts are not yet available and that I would be contacted again when parts are available.

Same here, letter arrived yesterday. No parts for my 2010 yet either.

got the letter for my 2013 too. is this just for steering wheel bag or the one in dash too?

Got my letter last week.
Haven't called the dealer yet.
I'm wondering if they will give me grief for having the dash skin glued on, and if it being there interferes with this recall job.
Thanks,

I would think so. I’m almost 100% certain they have to pull the dash to get to it but I’ll let you know.

Please keep us posted.
Assuming that's the case, I will have to remove my dash skin. Then when they pull off the OEM dash, it will crack into a million pieces and they'd have to give me a new one, no? It already had a bunch of cracks, that was why I had to put the dash skin on.
Thanks!!

Got the latest recall notice in the mail yesterday. Called to make an appointment today. Told it is a two part process. I've got to bring the Avalanche in Friday morning for them to look at before they can order the replacement kit. They'll then notify me when the parts (kit) comes in. I didn't ask how long they expected it would take for the parts to get here.

They kept it overnight.

it’s done though. It actually looks better than it did before. I think they glued down the loose parts.

I have a dash skin on my 2013
I am worried that I’ll get no help
With the dashboard
Mine was cracked in 4 places
Can you remove the dash skin
And reuse?
I wonder😫

I guess we'll find out soon. I'm worried about the dash skin removal process. Probably not gonna be easy. Sigh. I can already envision having to cut out some sections, ripping out others, with lots of messy glue residue left behind. Looks like I'll have to order a new piece.

Another issue that worries me is
Whether to remove the dash skin
Before or after taking it in for airbag
Recall...
Maybe after so dealer has to fix it?
Hell of a mess either way 😫

Well, if you leave the dash skin on, they might say that it needs to be off before they can do their thing.

Dropped my 2007 Avalanche off for the airbag recall this morning. Got a call back an hour later saying they were done with it. All they did was some "27 point inspection" and ordered the new airbag kit. Will call when they receive it. No estimate on how long it will take to get the kit.

Seems to me they could have ordered the kit when I called about it, but this way they get to charge GMC for the inspection they did.
