Purchased the rack (from now defunct avalancherack.com) several years ago and made lots of use of it on my '04. Traded up to an '11, and for anyone wondering - the rack still fits perfect.
Front mounting of the bracket, just behind the sail. This picture is without the triangular drain cover.
Rear mounting of the bracket, under the grab handle
In both pictures the brackets have a protective plastic cover on which makes them blend in when the bars are not mounted. Neither bracket requires modifications to any stock components. This is definitely plug and play - using existing screws, etc. More pictures with the bars mounted later today.
It's not an Avy rack but accomplishes the same thing. A buddy of mine made up plates to let me mount my yakima setup over the bed panels. Works great and have loaded it up pretty heavy when I went camping/offroading. Pics if anyone's interested:
I was wondering do you have any trouble with the rear bar interfering with the side pockets opening all the way can you show pics of that and detail pic of how the bars are mounted to the bed Thanks.
I really like how you mounted your rack. I'd like to do something similar, but am wondering if you could tell me how you mounted the landing pads by your sail panels? I see that you removed the triangular drain grates, but could you tell me how you fastened them to the plastic underneath? Thanks.
Can't remember if I was the one who PM'd you or not. I got impatient though and went ahead with a different mounting solution. I'll post the details in a new thread, but here are a couple teaser shots.
