Come join us for a Wild West Train Ride on September the 15th. The train pulls out of the station in Connersville, Indiana at 12:01 but we need to be there at least 45 minutes to a hour early to get our tickets. You will see Bandits, Marshals, Robber Barons, Fancy and some Not So Fancy Women as you roll through the scenic countryside. The train departs Connersville at 12:01 PM. The round trip fares for this train are $20 for adult and $10 for kids ages 2 to 12 and they do take credit cards. The train will be protected on its journey to Metamora, Indiana by the Delaware Rangers! This is a interactive rolling museum, the Delaware Rangers will entertain us as well as protect us!
The train ride is a little over a hour each way and there is a 2 hour layover in Metamora. Never been to Metamora?
You will find a town map, links to other attractions, the towns history, a shopping and dining guide and much more if you click the link
Metamora is full of Specialty and Novelty shops, Art Shops, Antiques and Caf?s/Coffee Shops/Eateries. Metamora is a old canal town that has a working water-powered mill. In 1900, Frank Wright erected a three story brick flouring mill with a daily capacity of fifty barrels of flour.? This mill operated day and night, depending entirely on hydraulic power. The mill employs a 50 inch hydraulic wheel on an eight foot fall of water, thus receiving 30 horsepower. Metamora still operates the Ben Franklin III Canal Boat and the cost is only $4 per person. Metamora, Indiana has the only wood aqueduct still in service in this country.? It was built to carry the canal 16 feet above the Duck Creek.? It has a clear span (length) of 70 feet.? The water cross section is 17 feet wide and 3 feet deep. What better way to explore Metamora than on a beautiful carriage with family and friends.? $5.00 per person or $25.00 per carriage load.
We will be on our own while in Metamora because different attractions will be of interest to different members, keep your eye on the time, DON'T MISS THE TRAIN!? ? During our 2 hour layover explore the town, grab a bite to eat or go shopping, just don't miss the train for the return trip!
After our day of train rides, walking the streets of Metamora and sight seeing we will stop for dinner, we will pick and place and let everyone know by updating this post. The train trips and the layover in Metamora will be over around 5PM.
For those coming from the north, we can meet at my home and cruise down together, we are just over a hour north of Connersville. We will need to head out by 9:45AM. For members coming from Ohio or other points East, West or South it will be best to meet us at the train station in Connersville. DIRECTIONS AND MAPS ARE HERE.
