I installed a new Alpine head unit in my '07 on Saturday and I wanted to use the factory XM tuner location for the SIR-ALP tuner box to keep it stealth and be able to use the factory antenna.  Turned out great.  I was able to use the carrier from the XM module to hold the Sirius module in place even though it's a bit thicker.

Just wanted to mention that so when Sirius finally releases the LAN system adapter that you will likely be able to use the stock location.  The new Sirius tuners look like they're going to be a dual-box setup, but that's what zip ties are for.

Here's my full install thread and a pic of the unit in place.

The vid only tells you such much anyway.  It's one of those things that will scare the crap out of you until you do it.  There are 4 clips on each side of the radio and one at the bottom.  You have to pull HARD to get each one out.  I grabbed a set of nylon panel tools and it makes it alot easier.  The first time I did it I used a pick tool to pull the trim away a bit and then slid a plastic putty knife under.

The real trick of it is to find the point of greatest resistance - where the clip is.  Get whatever you're using to pull on the panel at that point and YANK!  I just replaced all of my burl trim panels with the brush aluminum.. only cost me the skin from 2 knuckles!

any pics of that mod?? And where did you get the brushed stuff at??  That would be cool to get.
