Since I've gotten so much good information out of this site, I thought I'd share some pics of the current project, my 2005 Avalanche SS.

I was in the market for a new truck, after getting tired of climbing in and out of my lifted truck, a 2001 Chevy CC HD, and I was drawn to the Chevy SS.  After a lot of deliberating, I decided to go with the Avalanche over the SS, mainly for the crew-cab over the ext-cab.  The wife said if you like the SS, then make the Avalanche an SS.

So on began the adventure...

All parts are factory GM, with nothing cut/destroyed, etc.  I set out to build the truck GM didn't, and I hope I'm getting close.

Enough jawing, on with some pics...

Awesome looking AV SS.  You have done great work.  Are those factory gm wheels, i know they are ss but haven't seen them in chrome.  Eventually, I want to put SS wheels on mine.

The truck exterior is sort of on hold, it's 22 degrees outside right now, but as soon as it warms up a bit, I'll get right back on it. ?

Since I can't work on the outside, I'm starting the audio system, which with the mid-gate, was one of the major pluses to the truck. ?I'll be rebuilding the mid-gate, plus swapping all of the factory equiptment out. ?The deck/changer/XM are all in, and I'm currently working on the alarm/remote starter. ?

Next up will be lots of Dynamat Extream, then on to building the enclosure and amp racks. ?

Excellent job! your SS looks great, gotta agree with Se@n, you should consider lowering it to mimic the Silverado SS ride height.

Thanks. ?Yes, they are factory GM 20's. ?They are off of a 2006 SS, Earnhart edition, but all the '05-'06 SS's had chrome wheels, versus the silver painted wheels of '03-'04. ?

Well, the pics aren't completely up-to date. ?It has 3" Eibachs, and Eibach keys on it now. ?There are some more suspension changes in the works, but it has to warm up a little first
:E:

D@MN!  That looks great.  (y)

There's a member, Quarter, in Madisonville.  The three of us will have to meet up some time in Madisonville of Henderson for a meal and to let us check out your ride.

...Also what performance upgrades have you done to make it SS worthy?

I agree with this... if you are building out an "SS", there is more to it than SS trim....

I like the lines and stance of your truck... it's looking good.... reminds me of a white one I know of... >:D

now throw another 100 horses at it to back up the badges....  :D
