Yes, it's that time of year again!  Friday Nov 27

Why fight the traffic and the crowds  :E: ?

Come out to Concord NC and drive your Av on the track at Charlotte Motor Speedway :drive:

There will be many driver souvenir trailers as well as the Speedway store's end of season sale.

Merchandise purchases, or a small donation to Speedway Children's Charities gets you three laps on the track.   (y)

We've done this for several years and it's always a lot of fun.

Come on out and join us!!  :B:

Meeting time and place will be posted here shortly.

*** I spoke with a Speedway rep today 10/24 @ 1:15pm EDT and this event is definitely on despite there being no mention of it on their website. ***

Hey ChevyGuyNC we have lots of new members, maybe put a date in the topic.

No can do, holidays are not good for me traveling.

But most members do not know what a blast it is taking a AV on a high speed banked track, even I have done it once with my 2500.

Here is a couple of videos that ARMYtango posted a few years back.

Don't have the pics on the computer yet, but here are a couple links to my wife's YouTube channel where she uploaded a couple of videos taken from inside the truck.

Please watch with the volume down unless you want to here all the jabber between my 3 kids, my wife, and myself...lol (plus you can hear that CAI make my exhaust ROAR!)

From the first trip around:

From the second trip around (unfortunately it cut off at the end because my wife's phone rang)

Hey all, some have mentioned that there is no info about this on the Speedway website.  I spoke with a Speedway rep today 10/24 @ 1:15pm and the event is definitely on, despite not being posted on the website.

From ChevyGuyNC.... :drive: :drive: :drive: :drive: :drive: :drive: :drive: :drive: :drive: :drive: :drive: :drive: :drive:

Ok here it is... Let's meet at the CVS on Route 29, it's just past the I-485 intersection. Address is: 11430 N. Tryon Street, Charlotte NC 28262.

We will meet at 11:00 and leave around 11:15 or once everyone arrives. We can go straight to the track or brave a little traffic on Bruton Smith and go grab something to eat first.

THX most people don't realize how much fun it is taking a 6 thousand pound truck up a high banked turn.

I really wanted to join in on this GTG.   (y)
Just didn't fit our schedule this year.  :(

We did this at a Nashville GTG several years ago and it was a blast.
Except in Nashville there was a limit to top speed and no passing was allowed.

Or how scarey.    It gave me a real appreciation and admiration for Nascar drivers.

Had a great time on Friday at the Speedway. Didn't know what to expect going into those curves in my 2500.....it is definitely NOT a sports car haha. I think I hit around 95mph once one the back stretch.....it was a white-knuckle blast!

Look forward to next year!

But wasn't it fun taking a 2500 up on a hi banked turn, but you are right they aren't a sport car.  LOL

Been out of town, hate I missed the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Hopefully Ill make it next year...
