I mounted a set of Rancho 9000s on my '02 Z71 when I bought my AV about 3 years ago because they were incredible on my Chevy Silverado 4X4 truck and the old ones were toast. The AV must be a bit heavier as well as more top heavy as the shocks are toast now. I found this out when I went into some S-turns on I-695 going into Baltimore at 80 mph in heavy traffic. The truck started wallowing really bad. I thought I had crapped my pants, but it was the sweat running down my back. It was very scary.
I need a better shock. I see Bilstein as the popular choice here. Anyone know if they are firmer than a Rancho 9000?
I'm looking for the stock Bilstein part number and maybe something a little stiffer. The AV is 98% street driven, but I need something that will stand up to evasive maneuvers and high speed driving on pavement.
The AV also has a new set of Michelins at 36 psi, so I know the tires aren't the problem. Handling was the same with the old BFG tires.
Thanks!
