Hey! There was/is a thread here somewhere about how to remove some sensor on some component the HVAC unit to get much better access to necessary parts while cleaning HVAC system....... anyone know what I'm talking about???!???
:help:

I don't remember that topic.
Any of these help?

Thanks for the effort man, but that's not what I'm looking for. Perhaps it was on another Chevy forum or something. ??? Really not sure. If and when I find it, I'll try to post it here. Thanks again though. (y)

What are you cleaning in the HVAC system?
Ducts?
Blower?
Evap?
Condensor?

Normally nothing required.... except for maybe a special spray on EVAP which is doen thru the interior blower air return.....

I tried all the other ways. I ran across a way that removes one of the sensors (or a resistor or something - can't remember) that gives much better access to the area in the hvac that needs to be really cleaned.

I can prob just find it after gaining access to the area on the passenger's side..... Just be nice to find that detailed walk-through again for me and all the other's who could use it; winter's coming and that means moisture.... that means STINK if its not cleaned right. :9:

Again what are you trying to clean?

Not normal to clean HVAC system...

Again if you are spraying stuff ontolEvap coil... put on RECIRC fan HIGH and spray inside the opening pass side on underdash...
Removing the blower resister will also give access to evap... so will removing blower fan...

The stink only cmoes back when you have mold or other crud growing on EVAP.

I'm trying to clean whatever is causing that stank! Thank God it's not done it all summer... just slightly after one rain storm.
Blower resistor sounds right. I've tried the other methods (via inside vent, outside vent and also the drain plug) but I'm gonna try that resistor one. The stink comes back when too much moisture is in the air and it's on "fresh." I really hate the AC controls that think it's much smarter than me, not allowing re-circ on demand most of the time.

Have any of you guys done the blower-resistor procedure? What cleaner did you use?

Anyone?

I seem to remember on some systems that removal of the blower motor resistor allowed more access to the evaporator to allow for better coverage when spraying the "stink" remover. Resistor was mounted on the same case to help cool it with blower motor air flow and when removed the hole allowed access.
