Hey, I got a question. I've seen the mounts for a light bar above the wind shield on 2007-2013 Avalanches, will they work on a 1st gen?  I like the look of the curved light bar, but haven't found mounts that attach like the 07-13 mounts. Any thoughts? I have a 2004 wbh.

Don't know if this might be what you are looking for but here's what I did.....

I haven't seen what you're talking about...can you post a picture?

I am thinking that he may be talking about the off-road LED bar that goes across the top of the windshield.

It's the new craze...lol

I think this may be what he's talking about: http://www.rigidindustries.com/led-lighting/88621 and yes LED lighting is the future,, if you're still running halogens you are OLD!

The mounts for mine are different from the 2nd Gen Avalanche so no they won't work.
Beware. I've heard horror stories of the curved one tilting down and breaking the windshield on a few trucks.
Think of that curved bar tilting and becoming a giant "U" in front of your truck and the bottom of the "U" coming in contact with your windshield at 60 MPH and you get the picture.

I have the straight one and no matter how much I've tightened the screws holding them to the mounts, eventually it tilts down with the force of the wind at highway speeds

Hey James. It was you I was talking to about the bars when the whole tilting down thing came up.

Yeah, I heard about it from a guy at a custom shop, he actually had one from baja designs or some other brand, the thing was pretty bright, but he said it was actually mounted on a guys truck, and said it kept tilting down and one day just let go and hit the top of the windshield shattering it.
With that said, he did say the Rigid ones are being built now with something to stop them from tilting, Rigid recognized the problem and came up with something that stops it from dipping down I guess. (although this is from a second party and is unconfirmed, you'll have to contact Rigid for more)

Guess I am OLD. I like my KC day lighters. I'd convert them to LEDs if I could find a kit. But I'm not spending 500 on a LED from the factory pair. Besides I have 3 on my bar anyway.

Hey I was joking, didn't mean to hurt your feelings. If what you have works for you, that's all that matters.

Didn't hurt my feelings. I knew there was humor in there. But there is some truth in all humor. Haha. When the prices come down, there will be LEDs lighting the way.

I converted my KC Daylighters to HIDs before going to LEDs. They were brighter than the halogens but the LEDs are even better.

Dluvr22, that is exactly what im looking for. The mounts that you have, where did you get them, what brand are they? Yes I was looking at the curved led bar, I would have to see what has been done to stop the lightbar from striking the windshield. I have an 04, so those mounts would fit my avi.

I've been looking at lightbars on ebay, not rich enough to buy the bar from rigid. I need to find the mounts to pull it off.

Only one place I know of that sell the mounts for our generation Avy. Try SoCal SuperTrucks website.
Look for the mounts for the older generation Silverado. They'll fit.
