How/When to add Lucas Transmission Fix

I didn't really know how to name the subject line but here is what's going on.  My 2004 Av seems to have a slight hesitation when shifting from Reverse into Drive.  I haven't noticed any other problems while driving but it does take a moment to shift into drive after backing up (ex. backing out of a parking space or driveway)  Sometimes the shift is hard.  Well I have some Lucas Transmission Fix that I want to try.  My question is being that my dip stick shows full do I have to remove some of the transmission fluid first.  I can't add 24oz of fluid to a system that is already full.  Does the 04 AV have a transmission drain plug or does the pan have to be dropped.  I haven't put it on ramps or anything yet but I did lay down just to see If I could see a plug but I didn't.  My trans was rebuilt 3 years ago this coming August.

There is no drain plug. I would change the fluid & filter and add it then.

Personally, I would first try to do a simple fluid and filter change to see if that fixes it before using an additive.

Depending on which transmission you have, there are some reasonably priced replacement pans that include a drain plug to make future changes a little cleaner.

Thanks guys!  I kind of figured I would have to change the fluid.  I will probably take it to a shop and get the tranny serviced and see if that's resolves the issue.

That's not a bad idea.  I'm suspecting you've got a sticking valve in the valve body or possibly a solenoid that could stand to be replaced.  Hopefully it is something that they can do without having to remove the tranny from the truck.

Yep, if problem is a valve or solenoid, most of that will be exposed with pan off. May still need the additive if a valve is sticking but a trans specialist will be able to advise.
