Okay. Let me just say that I have searched this topic for several hours over three days and can't seem to find a straight answer.
I own a 2003 avalanche northface with onstar, xm, bose and steering wheel controls.  I want to install a new system with GPS and backup camera while retaining all of my current features.  can someone please tell me which type of adapters I will need to accomplish this if its possible.  I believe it is but I just can't figure out which adapters to get.
Thanks in advance

The easiest way is to put in a factory Nav then add one adapter for the backup camera.

MS03 is right but if a new system includes new amps, you'll need a PAC (or similar) adaptor to retain onstar and door chimes. You'll probably need an adaptor for the steering wheel controls. Unless something changed, (I have an 06 that had Bose , onstar and everything audio was replaced in 07) you will lose warning chimes for seatbelt, low fuel, ice conditions etc, but keep key in ignition and idiot chimes for lights on.- you'll still get messages displayed, just no chimes)  My onstar had to be wired to an aux speaker, located behind dash. Not a big deal as I don't use onstar for much.

If you contact www.crutchfield.com and get someone in their tech department they can build a system for all your needs with all the adapters to keep everything working. You may have to contact dealer to switch OnStar from analog to digital to get it to work in a 2003 AV if it hasn't been converted yet.

I don't want new amps.  Im very happy with current bose system.  Can a backup camera be wired to an 06 nav system? Is an 06 nav system plug and play?

Here is what crutchfield website says:
JVC KW-NT500HDT
Axxess AX-ADGM100
American International GMK-422
Metra 40-GM10

Any thoughts advice?

The camera is from ebay:  It should work with this system I believe.

06 nav system should be plug in play. You just have to run the gps antenna and then have the radio programmed to the vehicle by a dealer. I'm not sure if an 06 factory nav unit supports a back up cam. You may have to get an aux monitor, or ask crutchfield if an adaptor is made for the factory unit. You will still be happy with the sound if you like yours now. You may be a little disappointed if you change out the factory unit to an aftermarket and change nothing else. That was my original plan, and I was not happy with the sound. So everything got replaced.

Your crutchfield list looks good.

according to crutchfield there is no way to hook up an aftermarket camera to a 2006 OEM navigation.

Why don't the aftermarket units sound good?  Not put enough power out?

You can use a PAC VCI-GM1(non touchscreen) or VCI-GM2(touchscreen) for the backup camera on the factory ones.

Purchase this adapter to retain Bose, Onstar, and steering wheel control.

To retain the factory xm, whichever HU you decide on, make sure it is siriusxm compatible. You will need to purchase the sxv200

You can plug this into the factory xm antenna, so there will be no need to run the supplied antenna. Afterwards call xm and ask them to remove the old radio id and replace it with the new one.

Here is a quick overview of what you would be looking at. This package contains the HU, dash kit, antenna adapter, sat radio interface, and backup camera.

This is the radio interface that I prefer to use. It is made by PAC Audio. There are others out there but I find these to be more reliable
