I have a 2004 avalanche i get 16.9 mpg. I like to get more, any suggestions.

It's all the little things you should do that will help your incremental gas mileage but don't expect any significant gains; probably not more than another mpg. SLOW off the start, anticipate red lights & coast when in traffic, drive 55 mph on the highway, keep your tires aired up to maximum sidewall pressure. That's a start.
