They had a Dyno pull at a Nationals one year, but I don't think there is a post for dyno's.
DrX with twin superchargers is going to be hard to beat.

It'll be going on the dyno first thing when it is back together. Theoretically, the blowers are moving enough air with the 3" pulleys to make around 1400 at the crank. Just getting the motor crated up to go back to LME for an overhaul.

You have a heck of a AV, have you thought about a little less boost. I would love to see your AV hookup and run like a mad dog. I think you can get into the 11s

11's should be no problem. I'll be running the 3.4" pulleys on the street(13 psi) and 12 rib 3.0's(20psi) at the track. I have a little extra hookage next track season.

Hey DrX, any updates on your tank yet?
Just waiting to get the motor back so I can start putting it back together. It'll be April before we have ice-free roads anyway. Might get it on the dyno before then if I have it ready. Making some little mocifications along the way, so that slows things down when some custom machine work or pieces are required.
Had a pair of 12 rib pulleys made up for the blowers.

I think the 8 rib setup was slipping somewhat at higher boost levels. Should be able to get a little more boost out of it now.

Sounds good. That'd be quite the drive though. Make sure it includes a track weekend at Gimli!
I may take the Av down to the Car Craft Summer Nats in Minneapolis this summer if the trans holds out long enough this time. Not counting on it though.
Here was my first attempt at the track with a hurt motor(notice the smoke) and no traction. Couldn't put the pedal down without smoking the street tires.

Well the drive would be a plus, I love drivin my avg, and id also like to see what it will do on a roadtrip like that with the new trans parts, cam and tune. Are these going to be the first drags you've put on the truck?

This will be the first time with any kind of traction. That could result in finding the next weakest link.
The slicks may also cause me to get barred from the track if I run faster than 11.5 due to requirement for a roll bar/cage. That seems likely considering that I got it up to 115 MPH with no traction until half way down the track and sitting still spinning at the start line. The 115 MPH trap speed with a crappy 15 sec ET means there must have been some good acceleration in that last 1/8th.

sooo does that mean no more track or your going to cage it? And you know that saying about murphys law, well, my guys and I usually stick with the if it can break, it will when it comes to helicopters so we use the same concept on our vehicles too. Do you have the heavy duty axle and everything else?

That means it'll be a while before I get back to the track.
Here's the rear end thread:
http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php/topic,101041.0.html
Trans is a FLT Level 5 80E. T-case is the 3/4 ton version with the 6 pinion planetary (the 1/2 ton t-case is a 3 pinion setup). Front diff/axles are stil stock, so I don't launch in 4WD. Steering was nuts anyway the couple of times I tried it out.

DrX, do you use any sort of traction bars or can you keep it down by the shear weight of our Avs? I sometimes experience a little wheel hop when I'm trimming the fat off my rear tires. I have launched in 4wd once, but I have a 1-ton front diff. I got a little tire spin and a little side winding...but I wasn't going for traction, I wanted to spin them loose.

No suspension mods yet. I intend to lower the rear once I get the slicks mounted and see how much clearance I have. I put the Av on a scale and there was over 2800lb on the rear axle as it sits now, which is probably more than double that of most of the cars at the track. So that should help the slicks stick.
Is your Av a 2500?

Just wondering if you have the 1500 5-Link rear suspension or 2500 style leaf springs?

DrX, I believe we've spoken before. You sent me a link to videos or pics of you truck a year or so ago. Nice setup if my memory serves.
You've given me some inspiration, especially since LordAries abandoned us.
I have a 5-link modified onto a 14 bolt SF from an H2 Hummer and 3.42 gears mated to the 6-speed manual trans.

OK, same suspension then. Don't think I have noticed much wheel hop. Usually the tires just spin, probably until I am going fast enough and it stays in 2nd gear. Some custom fab work would likely be required to improve the 5-Link- new bars and mounts.

I was wondering if the slight wheel hop I do get is because it is trying to grip as it lays a patch of rubber and heats up. It's not like wheel hop that I've seen and heard about due to a light rear end. I could be wrong, though. I've wondered what the weight was on the rear. Good to know. Who does your tuning...or do you use like HPTuners or something? I haven't been able to figure HPTuners out and just rely on my tunes from Allen Nelson. I know I need to get it on a dyno to get it perfect, but I want to make sure all the build-bugs are out of it. I've developed a "seeping" from the rear main seal. Doesn't seem to be a big problem yet, but I don't like it. Plus my rear passenger side spark plug heat boot is always saturated with oil. I've replaced it twice and it need a new one again.
I am running 60# injectors and a Walbro 255 lph fuel pump. I have a dual pump set up, but not using the second pump because it floods out the spark plugs. I won't need it until I go supercharged. The second pump is controlled by the RPM's, so I just set it to like 6000 RPM, and it doesn't come on. I get a little sputter around 4800 RPM's, so the tune still needs adjusting.
What injectors are you running?

Delphi 95lb/hr low Z injectors with a driver box. I tune with EFILive and a Moates Roadrunner PCM. Maybe your oil leak is coming from somewhere higher than the rear seal? Valve cover, PCV connections, etc. Are you using stock valve covers?

Stock valve covers. I couldn't find the source of the leak, so I put a ultra violet dye in the oil and sent it to the dealership. They told me where the leak was coming from.

Maybe you should think about. I'm not sure about the dog thing. Remember you ask me dual pumps
And I laughed about the dual turbo you were selling.

What kind of tie rod and idler modification are you suggesting? I'm open to all suggestions.
I don't recall you downing my dual pump idea.
The dog reference is from "The Red Hen" nursery rime. I took it out of context, as the overall statement made sense. I sometimes use a line from a movie if it fits. Most people don't get the references though.

I haven't done anything with my steering either. I don't have any problems when it is in 2WD, but in 4WD you never know which front wheel is going to get all the power with the open differential. That's what pushes me to one side or the other. There is this kit from Cognito Motorsports.
http://www.cognitomotorsports.com/products/12/2001-2010_GMC_2500HD_Pitman_and_Idler_Arm_Support_Kit.html?left_select_reset=reset
I'd swear I saw another one somewhere, but I can't find it.
@ ms38w....
So the dealer said that the spark plug boot is getting oiled by the leaky rear seal? Is there somewhere where it can get out the side of the bellhousing on that trans/clutch? Also make sure that the end of the dipstick tube is fully inserted into the block.

The Cognito kits will help out a lot.
In order to get a 6,000 pound truck off the line hot ya gotta do it in 4WD.

I thought about the dipstick...checked it over and over, no signs of oil coming out there. I was a little surprised by the dealership's findings. I think there must be something more still.

I have the drivetrain back together but I am making some changes to the intake which has been sitting at the machine shop for a couple weeks already until they get a chance to work on it. After I get that back together and confirm that everything is functioning properly, it will be going to the dyno.

Previously the Magnacharger MP112(1.8L displacement per revolution). I'm now using dual Magnacharger TVS1900 units(3.8L total displacement) on a custom built intake setup.

Keep us posted on the progress now that it's running again. I can't imagine how you will keep from blowing the tires off with that much boost!

That is insane, I saw a couple of videos lauching off the line. OMG
If DrX puts those slicks on in 2wd, I think will will have a 10 second AVY in the quarter mile.
Looks like it will be awhile before we find out. I have to pull the new trans already as its overheating after just 20 miles of cruising. According to my logs, it appears that the new torque converter is way loose and the TCC doesn't hold past 40 % throttle.

I don't think it should even need one just cruising on level terrain. I have a B & M Supercooler with a fan on it. I have never had a trans heat up with this setup before. I did find that the fan was not kicking in(it has a 175* stat), so I wired it to run full time.....didn't make any difference. I checked the flow through the cooler.... filled a 1 qt container in the time it took to peek under the truck and turn the key off. I pulled the trans tonight. Going to ship the converter back to the builder tomorrow. If the trans has to go back too, it will likely be next spring before this truck is rolling again.
The trans did have to come out again anyway because I have a coolant leak from a drain plug that is up behind the flexplate. I have resealed it twice and it is still leaking!

Almost makes me wonder if you have a coolant passage blocked some where...that would account for overheating and a pressure build up could make it leak
I feel your pain, brother
