Thanks to Didit, Lu, LakeFX & LadyFX for providing lots of items for the drawings! Didit & Lu also passed out toys to all of the kids! Didit sold $40 worth of 50-50 tickets with half of the money going to the winner of the drawing and the other half going to the local food bank. CoonCityCornFlake won that drawing and donated his half of the money right back to the food bank! WAY TO GO!! He & his family also helped us take the donated food items to the drop off point and unload them. His kids got a real kick out of helping.
LadyFX was a big help with the restaurants, getting the group seating arranged etc. GoldBowTie & Toots led the group and a side tour to view the worlds largest gnome, those who have been around a while will get it.............
jabrd and his family help by leading us on several cruises around Des Moines. Many members brought food items to donate and I will be posting the pictures in this thread..............
I am probably leaving someone out but everyone who was asked to help with ANYTHING stepped up and helped!
All in all this was a GTG that had many people pitching in to do things to help the group & that is what I tried to make it, I even created positions and listed them on some name tags........the more people that we can involve in these GTGs the more will gain interest and hopefully attend future GTGs!
We had a great time at this GTG and while it was not as long as our traditional National Events from past years it was a huge success (and a lot less expensive). I would say that this year more members than ever had the chance to take part in a National Event. I know at our event we had more members that had NEVER BEEN TO A GTG than I remember at other past National Events. We did have issues with our live cast and never did get the upload working but most others did, I guess we are not as high tech as some groups......... but still we had a great time.
Thanks to The National GTG Chairman and to all Coordinators who helped with this event! Thanks to all members who attended an event and to everyone who made it the success that it was!
