THE CHEVY AVALANCHE FAN CLUB OF NORTH AMERICA PROUDLY PRESENTS
THE 1st WORLD WIDE AVALANCHE GET TOGETHER
BE A PART OF THIS SPECTACULAR EVENT ON THE INTERNET - AND - IN A CITY NEAR YOU 1. The idea is simple. Each CC and/or Regional CC will be in charge of organizing his or her own gtg. All these gtg's will be held on the same Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This allows the opportunity for each of the CC’s or RC’s to decide which of the days work best for them. There could be bowling, picnics, bbq's, pool parties, or modding. All CC's will be involved in making this the first of its kind gtg and participate in the biggest gtg in CAFCNA history. Think of it, almost anything a CC wants to do for his area is doable. The possibilities are endless. 2. We would like to have as many gtg’s simultaneously around the world as possible. It doesn’t matter if some end up being large and small or all large or all small or any combination there in. 3. The intention is to not put restrictions on the size, location, or number of gtg's. It's all about getting as many people together worldwide on the same weekend for the same purpose. 4. Each Worldwide GTG event location will have the opportunity to feed their gtg video cast as it happens to a common site so that we can all interact with each other. 5. Think of the opportunity to see and talk with people from France, Amsterdam, Germany, the Middle East, Canada, Hawaii as well as the other 49 states all at once. I'm personally looking forward to seeing other members Avalanches. Imagine being able to see I CHNGE, SmokinAv, YGMN, Doug, SHC, and many other members at a gtg like this would be cool. Just think of all the people you know on-line but couldn't pick out of a crowd and may never meet in person. 6. Our country is pushing going green and face it, our trucks use fuel. What better way to go green and lead the way then by using our unique venue? The Internet. It's what brought us together and now we can use it in a new way. We will have the opportunity to get good positive advertising. 7. Imagine having a good reason to buy or rent a 42" LCD TV to mount in the back of your truck. The Laptop, Camcorder, or Web Cam can be stationary or mobile. You can see and ask questions of people you thought you would never be able to meet. 8. Local CC's may want to contact their local media outlets with a prepared statement promoting our site and the event. This could be the ultimate tagging event with the local media being involved as the day or weekend approaches. 9. Every gtg participating will share the same t-shirt design 10. Every gtg participating will be supporting the same charity beneficiary.

Do we have a standard form letter available yet, so that each region can taylor it to meet their needs?

Guess I should have read this thread first as I mentioned basically what was written here in a different thread. Guess I'm a slow learner. I guess it's how I read it. 1 Large GTG (larger the better) on the dates provided ANDFor those in other areas too far to attend, hold smaller GTG's during the same time frame. THENwebcast all events in real time. Even make some of the events during the GTG's inter-active with one another.

Yeah you may need a internet hot spot, but sprint sells them it is so small it fits in your pocket. yeah, I think that's going to be the biggest problem - finding an internet connection in the middle of a GTG... I'm sure no one wants to see everyone else sitting down at a Starbucks, sipping coffee! We'd rather see people at a GTG, doing some modding, blasting train horns at pedestrians, etc...

I'd still rather blast train horns at pedestrians... But I don't know if a 3G connection is fast enough to view "live" video, especially since the upload speed is much slower than the download speed. If we could find a way to tap into a WIFI hotspot, we may get better video quality.

The good thing about this is if you only have a couple of days off work you could attend a National Event near your home. If you want to make a vacation of it or want to meet other members that you have talked with here on the site you can find a National GTG further away. So many choices, what to do, what to do...............I can't wait for the instructions on how to get the internet part of this working, it will be cool.

Hooters has free wireless! They do? I never noticed But looking for ideas on how to webcast our GTG. We'll have to try the 3G method on my laptop and iphone. Otherwise, I guess I'll have to scout the potential GTG locations. Looking forward to this global event!

Yeah you may need a internet hot spot, but sprint sells them it is so small it fits in your pocket. And who will be paying for them? The coordinators? Most wifi hot spots are slower than the 3g device you can carry around in your pocket. Tap into one sometime and go to Mobilespeedtest.com. I've got some contacts at ATT that could arrange for some fiber but it won't be cheap. Good luck with your endeavors on this. Sounds like a great plan.

I don't know about that - have you seen my face - it's much nicer in cyberspace! Reminds me of a song - " Online" ("So much cooler on line...) Even has a live webcam in the video. Maybe this can be our theme song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GcVnhNjWV0

3G will not work. We already thought about doing a live feed over 3g connection at a modding GTG. 3G his high speed download and basiclly 56k upload. Ever try doing a live feed webcam on dial up? Be sitting on the other end watching that little thing blink in the upper left coner saying BUFFERING! BTW i use Sprint 3G for my home connection so I think I would know if it would work or not! lool The idea aint bad its just finding away to do the live feed.

I feel that several of the Worldwide GTG's will he hosted at a members home, you know modding and all. We have high speed cable and so does most of the free world. We must understand that everything that we do at these Worldwide GTG's will not be online, I expect some cruises and GTG's in remote locations. I think the best way to to plan at least a portion of your GTG at a location that does have high speed connection so you can link up.

Hey amd1900mp some of the areas no not have a RC like Region 2 and I don't see a post started. IMO I really don't see a problem here. Region II and IV do not have RC's (yet) and we're working on that. Region II, IV, VI and Outside Americas have not posted threads yet either. As for the posts per region there is no requirement to do so since we already have this thread and the announcement thread. All of the threads are voluntary at this moment, run by CC's who have the time to ask their members what they would like to see/do at the Worldwide GTG. I'm sure in the coming weeks you'll see more threads out there. Region II is very busy right now getting ready for their STI VI GTG which is taking up a lot of time and effort. I'm sure once they get a chance to breathe after all their hard work they'll get a chance to focus on this

Thanks Harry, it is not a problem just lookin to see how everyone is setting them up..
The reason you don't see anything in Michigan yet is because Shoppy and I are still working out details and still need to sit down with DZ to bring him up to speed.

That is the same here. Viper just had a family member pass, I was in PA for my step father's 90th birthday party (BTW he is planning his 95th party already) and I haven't had time to sit down with Mo.....I'm going to post an announcement thread that directs to here and details to follow for those that only check Region II boards. Oh and I updated the calendar earlier.

to broadcast live vid I have used 'Clearwire' and ATT Wi-max should work also
their not designed to be moving , hand off issues. but Clearwire worked OK at it. Haven't tested ATT
Maybe someone in the areas can be asked to test? That has it....
I had problems finding affordable host sites to broadcast it.

Hey amd1900mp some of the areas no not have a RC like Region 2 and I don't see a post started. tattle tail... if its supposed to be done by a RC and region2 doesn't have a RC, it kinda makes it hard to do, huh?

Not "supposed" to be done by anyone. It's made clear that ANYONE can help out with a GTG, not just RC's, CC's, or the NC - If you want to help out your local CC, feel free to do so!

So just a simple highspeed cable connection and wifi router is good enough ? If Michigan does it at Hooters could we have multiple built-in webcam laptops inside and in the parking lot connected ? I'm sure we'll figure it out in MI for one or more GTG sites

why not coordinate your own GTG in MI? you dont have to be a CC to do that No can do, SirShopalot, BigC and DZ are taking care of this area. But I usually take vacation this time of year and would like to go to one in another area and meet some other members. PS Butch meant the CC and RC are doing these GTGs I believe that's what amd1900mp wanted. Also I doing Dream Cruise which will be 2 weeks after this.

Any member wanting to host a gtg should contact their Local CC or Regional Coordinator and coordinate it with them.. That's the way it's always been preferred.

Just a quick question about item #10:
10. Every gtg participating will be supporting the same charity beneficiary.
Is there going to be a cost involved? If not what is the point of a charity beneficiary?
Just curious

Extra moneys from the T-Shirt sales will go twards a Charity to be named later. It is also up to each CC, RC, etc... if there will be a fee involved in participating in the GTG like other years.

That's an idea Maybe Hooters will kick in towards the charity of choice. Might force us to choose a certain type of cancer society... but worth it. Any charity that gives most of the money to those in need is good. The ones that keep most of the money for "administrative" stuff don't need our money...

My bosses wife is going thro her 2nd week of breast cancer treatment. If this be the choice of charity i might be able to get my boss to donate in and sponsor.....no guarantees but its worth a shot for a good benefit.

I suggested in my region we do something new, but each of the GTG locations be centralized in areas where as many states could attend without driving too far.
One example was using the Southern Coast of Oregon so NorCal, Oregon, Washington and Idaho could attend in one place.

That would be OK, but I would fly in. I thought Region one had a good idea around the falls but they moved it to far to drive to.

I was thinking the Wild West Wild West would be about the same drive time for the locals as it is held in Southern Oregon.

Utah is getting together some great plans folks. Might check their board out. Nothing 100% confirmed yet but I know Mark is hard at work on it. Anyone wishing to see the beauty of Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon and Zion might want to keep tabs on Utah and think about chiming in and let Mark aka Utah Av know your interests.

Thanks Aussie! Our event is off and running. We are going to visit the National Parks of Zion and Bryce. We will be staying at a resort in the small mountain town of Duck Creek Village, UT. It is at about 8000ft elevation. Cool mountain air during a hot Utah summer! Our biggest challenge is that the 24th of July is a State holiday here in Utah so lodging will fill up quickly. If you are interested in joining our get together be sure to visit our GTG thread soon and look at your lodging options. 2010 Worldwide Chevy Avalanche Get Together! Utah Chapter Event! -UtahAV -Mark

I'm about ready to announce my plans....I just sent pm's to the other CC's in my region for thoughts and input. It's going to be laid back and economically friendly (ie cheap )
