Buick Will Buy Out Dealers Who Do Not Sell EV's

They are probably trying to tell the dealers " the tail does not wag the dog"

Wait till sales dry up next year and GM is BEGGING the remaining dealers to take inventory for their lots.

At some point in time even the folks pushing it so hard are going to be forced to admit that EVs are not the
answer and a large percentage of us consumers out here are never going to buy one..

I'm not against EVs, and wouldn't mind trying out a Tesla. They have their place, but they are not the answer for a complete transition. Maybe someday, but not today, and not for a loooong time. They are being pushed prematurely, and I don't see anything good on the abandonment of gas/diesel powered vehicles.

At this point in time if you decide to get an EV only lease it, do NOT buy it. That vehicle will be worthless when the battery dies. Will cost as much to replace the battery, if not more, than the vehicle is worth. The ONLY thing that electric vehicles will be good for is as commercial vehicles since those generally get used for 2-4 years and then get replaced. Until they replace the current technology for batteries they will never be better than an internal combustion vehicle for a variety of reasons. The vehicles that have much more promise is CNG or Propane, which all current gas vehicles could be switched over to, or the Hydrogen cars which are more of a hybrid as they create electricity by converting hydrogen and oxygen into water and exhaust the water. The conversion creates electricity that they then can use to charge a small battery pack that then runs the car much like a conventional EV. Plus when the battery pack dies it will be reasonable to replace since it is MUCH smaller. All EV's will do is show us how bad our weak electrical grid really is.

I've always thought of EV's as disposable vehicles. I'm not a conspiracy-theory nut or anything like that, but I find it odd that the government is really pushing these vehicles when they really are not a good long term solution to anything.

Our current President usually mentions GM when talking about EV's, he says nothing about Tesla. I don't want to make it political, but I do find it very hypocritical when he is transported around in a diesel truck, to drive to the kerosene-fueled aircraft where upon landing, he walks to the kerosene fueled helicopter. Yes I know that he is the not only President to have done this.

You would have to be out of your mind to replace those batteries, but they would make good commuter cars back and forth to work. Like rod.said lease them

I think of EV as enclosed big golf carts
Mine uses old school deep cycle LEad batteries.

Newer ones come with Lithium because lighter and last a bit longer
Pricey little things.

2 ways to do it new ones have specil shaped battery packs and cost a fortune. like $2-3K for battery pack.

Or they make lithium batteries inrecangle shapes and battery sizes kinds of generic.
Some are rated full 48VDC of cart others rated 6, 8 or 12 and come with kit to convert ones cart.

Iooked into this and I think since peeps keep their carts they make upgrade packages which can double my driving time and up performance a bit.
but for only 2x normal lead battery replacement package would cost and this new packages comes with a new charger

so why do I blab about this...

Why do the EV car batteries have to cost over $10K? is production not enough?
they can do it for golf carts:

48v-100Ah Complete kit $2300
Pretty close to what I have now in Lead Acid Ah.
